Voltalia, a French renewable energy company, intends to construct a solar PV cluster with a capacity of more than 1.5 GW in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Voltalia, located in the Arinos region, is developing a solar cluster for its own use as well as for third parties. The company has already formed alliances with a number of companies, including CTG Brasil, which will purchase a significant portion of the solar sites once the development phase is completed.
Voltalia is also developing large solar clusters in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia, having potential capacities of 2.4 GW and more than 1GW, respectively. So far, the company has built a presence in the Brazilian wind, solar, hydropower, and hybrid sectors, with assets in different places around the country.
Earlier this month, Voltalia announced the completion of a new solar power facility near Alleins, France. The 8.16 MW Carrière des Plaines solar power plant is located in the municipality of Alleins in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, on the site of a former quarry. Reportedly, the plant has a twenty-year electricity contract and is made up of half crystalline photovoltaic panels and half concentrator photovoltaic modules.
