TotalEnergies, a France-based oil and gas company, has joined forces with KGHM, a Polish mining company, to participate in an auction for offshore wind projects. In the Polish Baltic Sea, the Polish government will lease 11 offshore development regions with a combined capacity of more than 10 GW.

Under this agreement, TotalEnergies’ experience in offshore operations will be combined with KGHM’s experience in the Polish market. If the partners succeed in the bidding procedure, they intend to use their resources to develop these initiatives and create jobs in Poland. They also aim to contribute to a cost-effective supply of green electricity in the country.

In March 2022, Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW) announced its plans to sell its US subsidiary EnBW North America, as well as its assets, to TotalEnergies. The deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed. As per the company statement, in the following months, EnBW plans to support TotalEnergies’ activities in the US.

REGlobal’s Views: TotalEnergies, with its expertise in oil and gas space as well as clean energy development, is suitably placed in the energy sector value chain to take on massive offshore wind deployment.
