Bangladesh commissions largest solar park in the country

Malaysian developer Ditrolic Solar Group has announced that it has commissioned the largest solar plant in Bangladesh. The project has a capacity of 73.1 MW and is located in the Mymensingh district, 100 km north of Dhaka. The solar plant is signed under a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Bangladesh Power Development Board. It was built with an investment of around $90 million and will supply power to the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh at an unspecified tariff.

2 GWp solar park with storage and diesel backup to come up in the Philippines

he Solar Philippines Corporation has announced plans to build a large power complex combining 2 GWp of solar power capacity, 6 GWp of energy storage, and a 600 MW diesel backup plant in Nasugbu, Batangas City. The company has secured a Solar Service Energy Contract from the Department of Energy giving it exclusive right to explore, develop and utilise the solar resource. Solar Philippines has also secured about 2,000 hectares of land for the project in Nasugbu.

Eni expands its Spanish portfolio with the acquisition of three solar projects

Eni and X-Elio have signed an agreement according to which Eni will acquire three of X-Elio’s solar PV projects. These projects are located in Spain and have a total capacity of 140 MW. They are also planning for a larger strategic collaboration as part of which the parties will develop renewable energy projects in Spain, where Eni aims to have 1 GW of renewable energy projects in the next five years.

100 MW Oruro solar power plant inaugurated in Bolivia

The 100 MW Oruro photovoltaic solar plant located in Bolivia has been inaugurated. It covers an area of 208 hectares and is the largest solar park in Bolivia. It was constructed in two phases. In this solar plant, 300,000 polycrystalline solar panels with an individual capacity of 330 W each were installed.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced EUR 38.5 million of new financial and technical support to Burkina Faso for promoting solar power development. The funding will also be used to protect its capital city Ouagadougou from future flooding. Wells Fargo collaborates with Ameresco to install solar projects at its properties in the United States

Ameresco and Wells Fargo have partnered up to develop about 30 MW of new solar capacity at Wells Fargo retail and administrative locations across seven states in the United States. These onsite solar generation assets will include rooftop, carport and ground mounted systems in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Iowa, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas. The implementation of these projects is expected to begin in April 2021.

Morocco opens tender for 400 MW of solar projects

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) has opened a new tender (expiring on January 31, 2021) for six new solar energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 400 MW. According to the MASEN, the solar photovoltaic plants will be located across the country near Sidi Bennour, Kalaa Sraghna, Taroudant, Bejaad, El Hajeb and Ain Beni Mathar.

Tunisia issues tender for 70 MW of solar power projects

The Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy of Tunisia has invited bids for 70 MW of solar power projects. The tender has two phases, one of 60 MW and the other one of 10 MW. In the first phase of 60 MW, each project will have a maximum solar capacity of 10 MW. Meanwhile, in the second phase of 10 MW, each project will have a maximum project capacity of 10 MW.

Total signs agreement with Ignis for 3.3 GW of solar projects in Spain

Energy giant, Total, has partnered with the Spanish developer Ignis to develop 3.3 GW of solar projects located close to Madrid and Andalusia to expand its presence in the Spanish electricity market.
