Vestas secures EPC order for two wind projects in Finland

Vestas, a manufacturer of Danish wind turbines, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for two wind farms in Finland that Neoen and Prokon will own jointly. The combined output of the Lumivaara and Storbötet wind farms will be 161 MW. The 17 Vestas V162-6.2MW turbines that make up the 105 MW Storbötet wind farm will be situated in the municipality of Uusikaarlepyy. The Lumivaara wind farm, located in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi, will be powered by nine V162-6.2MW turbines. Additionally, Vestas will provide its 20-year active output management 5000 service, a package for maintaining wind farms.

Ameresco and Atura to construct 250 MW battery storage system in Canada

The Canadian independent electricity system operator (IESO) has selected renewable energy company Ameresco and its partner Atura Power to build a 250MW/1,000 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) in Ontario province.
Ameresco and Atura Power, an Ontario Power Generation affiliate, will build the project as a joint venture (JV) under the name Napanee BESS. The BESS project will be built next to Atura Power’s Napanee generating station and Ontario Power Generation’s Lennox generating station in the town of Greater Napanee.

Queensland begins construction of 252 MW Wambo wind farm

The Queensland government in Australia has started construction on the 252 MW Wambo wind farm.
The project, which is situated in the Western Downs region, was officially launched by Queensland’s Minister for Energy, Renewables, and Hydrogen, Mick de Brenni, in the presence of representatives from Cubico Sustainable Investments and Stanwell. Wambo wind farm is a joint venture between the two companies. The wind farm will be equipped with 42 wind turbines, and the project supports the state government’s target of 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030.

Eneco to build 50 MW battery storage project in Belgium

Eneco is planning to build a new 50 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to be installed in Ville-sur-Haine in the Wallonia region of Belgium. Eneco will fully own the project. The company has secured the permit, placed orders for the battery and is conducting preparatory studies to begin operations by the end of 2024. The BESS will include 53 megapack energy storage units supplied by Tesla, which can store and supply power to the grid for four hours. Installed in cooperation with Belgian grid operator Elia, the BESS will ensure that the increasing number of solar and wind energy facilities can be deployed efficiently while keeping the grid power balanced.

Rolls-Royce, ABO Wind launch solar with battery project in Bavaria

Rolls-Royce Holdings and German renewables developer ABO Wind AG have completed a crossbreed solar and battery nuclear power facility in Bavaria, Germany, capable of producing 10,000 MWh per year.
