Indian public sector undertaking SJVN Limited has submitted a Letter of Intent to construct 10,000 MW of solar power projects in the state of Rajasthan over the next five years. International Finance Corporation (IFC) plans to provide about $50 million in the form of debt financing for the development of the 300 MW Thar Surya solar project. The project will be located in Bikaner region of Rajasthan, India. The solar plant is expected to begin operations by the end of 2021.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids to develop 1,785 MW of solar projects (Tranche IV) in Rajasthan, India. The power procured from the projects will be sold to the distribution companies in the state. The authorised agency for signing the power sale agreement on behalf of Rajasthan discoms is Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited while SECI will be the intermediary nodal agency for power procurement. For each project, the minimum capacity will be 10 MW and the maximum 1,785 MW.
