Genex to take over 2 GW solar and battery project in Australia

Genex Power, an Australian energy company, has agreed to purchase the development rights to a 2 GW solar and battery energy storage system plant in Queensland. The Bulli Creek Clean Energy Project is situated in south-east Queensland, nearly 100 km southwest of Toowoomba. It will be developed in five phases on a 5,000ha area of land. Solar Choice, an Australian producer of solar energy equipment, will sell the project rights to Genex.

CS Energy signs MoU with EDF Renewables for 230 MW wind farm

CS Energy, an Australian electricity company, has signed a MoU with EDF Renewables for the construction of the 230 MW Banana Range Wind Farm in Central Queensland. The Banana Range Wind Farm, which will be in the Biloela region, will be able to generate enough clean energy to power 15,000 homes. During the construction phase, the project is planned to provide 150 jobs. Construction on the site is set to begin in 2024, with the project slated to be completed in 2026.

Queensland aims to install large-scale batteries at substations

The Queensland state government has proposed installing five large-scale, network-connected batteries as part of a community battery trial. The batteries will have a cumulative capacity of 40 MWh and will be installed at substations in Townsville, Yeppoon, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Toowoomba. Energy Queensland-owned sites have been identified for this trial where there is high penetration of solar on the network and deployment can occur as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Vena Energy appoints Doosan GridTech as EPC contractor for 100 MW battery storage project

Doosan GridTech will provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) support to Vena Energy-Australia to build an energy storage system in Queensland. This battery energy storage system (BESS) will support the state’s shift to renewable energy as well as contribute to improving grid stability. The BESS will be located near Wandoan with an installed capacity of 100 MW and will supply 150 MWh.
