RWE to acquire 1.4 GW Dutch ‘hydrogen-ready’ power plant

RWE, a German energy company, has agreed to acquire the 1.4 GW Magnum gas-fired power plant in the Netherlands from Vattenfall for $534 million. Magnum has been in operation since 2013 at Eemshaven, in the Dutch province of Groningen. Reportedly, the power plant is ‘hydrogen-ready,’ which means it can run on hydrogen partially or completely.

GE Renewable to modernise SPIC Brasil’s hydro power plant

The hydro division of GE Renewable Energy has been awarded a contract by SPIC Brasil to carry out a comprehensive modernisation project at São Simão Hydroelectric Power Plant in Brazil. The project, which is located between the towns of Santa Vitória and São Simão, has six generating units with a total capacity of 1.71 GW, enough to power six million homes.
