Masdar City plans to launch pilot green hydrogen project

Masdar City has announced that it is developing a pilot green hydrogen project in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Etihad Airways, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Siemens Energy, Marubeni, and the Lufthansa Group. The eloctrolyser used in the project will be solar-powered and will be constructed in Masdar, Abu Dhabi. The project will aim at producing green hydrogen and sustainable fuels for road transport, aviation, and shipping.

Bangladesh sets up a research centre and pilot project for hydrogen technologies

Bangladesh has announced that it has set up a research centre and a pilot processing plant for hydrogen-based technologies. In addition to producing hydrogen, the plant will also produce waste and biomass which will be used as feedstock. For this, the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSCIR) has kickstarted the training of scientists to work towards setting up a full-fledged Hydrogen Energy Laboratory as part of the project.

New York City’s Roosevelt Island to get power from tidal turbines

Marine energy company, Verdant Power, has installed tidal power turbines in New York City’s East River which will provide clean electricity to the narrow Roosevelt Island through a distributed generation system connected to Con Edison’s local grid. This is the first commercially licensed tidal power project in the US.
