Masdar to set up to 1 GW of renewable projects in Kyrgyzstan

Masdar, a UAE-based renewable energy company and the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic have signed a MoU to explore up to 1 GW of renewable energy opportunities in Kyrgyzstan. Under the agreement, Masdar plans to explore and invest in a wide range of renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV), floating solar PV, and hydropower projects.

India to sign a MoU with Sri Lanka for three renewable energy farms

India and Sri Lanka have signed a MoU to establish hybrid power plants in the island nation. The announcement comes after the Sri Lankan government recently ousted the Chinese company that had been cleared for these projects in 2021. The projects call for the development of three wind turbine farms in the Palk Strait, on the small islets of Nainativu, Analaitivu, and Delft.

IRENA and SACREEE sign MoU to accelerate renewable energy deployment in Southern Africa

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Southern African Development Community’s Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on increasing the deployment renewable energy projects with a special focus on decentralised technologies across countries in Southern Africa. The two parties will also combine to catalyse policy development, capacity building programmes and regional events to attract investments in the area.
