First steel cut for Moray West offshore wind farm J-Tube frames

Global Energy Group, a services provider for the offshore industry, has begun fabrication of J-tube frames to be used for the 882 MW Moray West offshore wind farm. The work on J-tubes is taking place at its North Fabrication facility with the first steel being cut at the Port of Nigg, Scotland. This fabrication phase is the result of several months of pre-production engineering by the company. The diameter and length of each J-tube frame will be 11 and 37 meters, respectively.

Seaway 7 to start inter-array cable works for Moray West wind farm

Subsea 7, based in Luxembourg, has signed a letter of award (LOA) to begin engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning (EPIC) work on the 882 MW Moray West offshore wind facility’s inter-array grid cables. The agreement was signed by the firm and Moray Offshore Windfarm (West). The LOA is currently in the final phases of negotiation and may include the installation and supply of roughly 125 km of 66 kV subsea power cables, as well as all associated cable protection systems.
