HQI US Holding, a subsidiary of Canadian energy utility Hydro-Québec, has agreed to acquire Great River Hydro for around $2 billion. With a total installed capacity of 589 MW, Great River Hydro has 13 hydropower generating facilities. These are located along New England’s Connecticut and Deerfield rivers in Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Amp Energy, a worldwide Energy Transition Platform and renewable energy provider, has finalised funding on its $155 million 61 MW/ 6.5 MWh solar plus storage portfolio in Massachusetts and New York. KeyBank led the construction and term debt, with US Bank investing the portfolio’s tax equity in the fourth deal between the three parties since 2017.

Massachusetts enacted a law in 2016 for the state to procure 1,600 MW of offshore wind by 2027. This move led to the beginning of competitive requests for proposals (RFPs) for long-term offshore wind energy contracts. Vineyard Wind won the 800 MW project under the first RFP organised in 2017/18. The second RFP, organised in 2019/20, also for for an 800 MW project, was won by Mayflower Wind.
