Masdar to develop 2 GW clean energy projects in Uzbekistan

Masdar, a UAE-based energy company, has inked a joint development agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade to develop 2 GW of renewable energy and 500 MWh of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the Central Asian country. With 7 GW of solar and 5 GW of wind capacity, Uzbekistan aims to achieve 25 per cent of its energy needs from renewables by 2030.

Masdar, an energy company located in the UAE, has inked agreements for the development of renewable energy projects with Angola, Uganda, and Zambia, with a total combined capacity of 5 GW. The agreements were inked as part of the Etihad VII initiative, a global development fund founded by the UAE with the goal of providing clean electricity to 100 million people in Africa by 2035.

Masdar to construct renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan

Masdar, an energy company based in the UAE has inked agreements with the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) to develop 4 GW of wind and solar power capacity integrated with green hydrogen projects. The agreements were inked on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a worldwide platform to accelerate sustainable development organised by Masdar. SOCAR seeks to increase Azerbaijan’s energy security as the country’s integrated oil and gas company.

Masdar to build renewable project portfolio in Kyrgyzstan

Masdar has signed an agreement with Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Energy to establish a 1 GW renewable energy project pipeline in the region. A 200 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility with the capacity will be the first project the company develops, and it will be online in 2026. The MoU that the two sides signed in April 2022 serves as the foundation for the deal.

Masdar reaches financial close for solar facility in Azerbaijan

Masdar, a state-owned energy company in the UAE, has reached financial close on its Garadagh solar photovoltaic plant in Azerbaijan. The 230 MW solar project is the company’s first in Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s first independently funded solar project. Garadagh will be able to produce 500 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power over 110,000 homes.

Masdar, the Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company, signed a Mou to acquire a stake in bp’s proposed green hydrogen project, HyGreen Teesside. The project will now be advanced by ADNOC’s first investment in the UK, initially to the next level of design, the pre-FEED stage.

Masdar wins 200 MW solar project in Armenia at a tariff of $0.029 per kWh

Masdar, a developer based in the United Arab Emirates, has won a tender to build a 200 MW solar farm in Armenia at a tariff of 0.029 per kWh. The plant will be built in Armenia’s Talin and Dashtadem districts. The solar farm will require a total investment of $174 million. Following Masdar’s initial offer of $0.0299 per kWh in December 2019, the Armenian government placed the project under competitive bidding. Masdar again won the tender by quoting a a reduced tariff of $0.0290 per kWh.

Masdar and Taaleri Energia, a Finnish renewable energy developer plan to develop a 65 MW solar project in Greece through their joint venture for Central and Eastern Europe, Masdar-Taaleri Generation (MTG). The project will be locatedin the Viotia region, which is about 65 km north of Athens, and will be co-developed with local partners: the Constantakopoulos family and Autohellas.
