Lightsource bp closes first tax equity deal for 481 MW solar portfolio

Lightsource bp has closed on a $267 million tax equity investment from Wells Fargo & Company, a Fortune 500 financial services company with roughly $1.9 trillion in assets. Along with the sponsor equity investment made by Lightsource bp, Wells Fargo’s tax equity investment finalises the debt financing package that was first finalised in December 2021. Well Fargo’s investment will support the construction and operation of a two-project portfolio totaling 481 MW, which are among the largest projects in each state, and include a 346 MW Oxbow Solar in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana with energy sales to McDonald’s and eBay; and a 135 MW Conway Solar near Happy, Arkansas with energy sales to Conway Corp.

Lightsource BP sells 247 MW solar project portfolio in Spain

Lightsource BP has secured an agreement to sell its 247MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project cluster in Aragón, Spain. The solar PV cluster consists of five installations in the Spanish province of Aragón that have been in operation since 2021. For an undisclosed price, these projects were sold to independent renewable energy investors Plenium Partners and Bankinter Investment.

Lightsource bp closes around $150 million financing on 210 MW solar PV plant in Brazil

Lightsource bp, a solar project developer, has completed financing for its 210 MW Milagres Solar project in Brazil for $148.7 million. The Northeast Development Fund (Fundo de Desenvolvimento do Nordeste, or FDNE), which is run by the Brazilian government agency Superintendência de Desenvolvimento do Nordeste (Sudene), received debt funding of $78.6 million from Banco do Brasil.

Lightsource BP to build aquaculture PV plant in Taiwan

Lightsource BP has partnered with Green Rock Energy on the development of a 150 MW solar-aquaculture project in Taiwan. The Budai project will be one of the largest fishery solar farms in Taiwan, creating 750 employment opportunities during construction, which is expected to commence in June 2023. The project will produce 210,000 MWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 43,000 homes.

Lightsource bp plans to develop 1 GW of solar capacity in France

By 2026, Lightsource bp, a joint venture between Lightsource and bp, intends to develop 1 GW of solar power capacity in France.  To achieve this target, the company plans to build many large-scale ground-mount solar farms.  Under the agreement, Lightsource bp plans to engage in public tenders and provide companies with sustainable energy through power purchase agreements.

ScottishPower to acquire 800 MW solar portfolio in UK

ScottishPower, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has inked two agreements to purchase 17 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Britain, totalling more than 800 MW. ScottishPower has acquired 12 solar PV projects from renewables developer Elgin Energy, with a total capacity of 519 MW and 70 MW of energy storage capacity, and the remaining solar projects from developer Lightsource BP.  The sites will require a $687 million investment to commission.

Lightsource bp receives a $1.8 billion push for expansion of solar power

Lightsource bp, a British renewables developer, has secured a $1.8 billion credit and trade finance facility to support the expansion of its solar energy portfolio. The company has a target to develop 25 GW of solar projects by 2025. Additionally, the company is also creating a 9 GW portfolio in the US, following its acquisition from the Texas based 7X Energy.

Lightsource BP to install 467 MW of solar capacity in Brazil

Lightsource BP has announced its plans to develop 467 MW of solar photovoltaic projects in Brazil’s Ceara state. The company has met with the state’s economic development and labour secretary to finalise the project which will be developed with an investment of $261.3 million. Under the plan, Lightsource BP will develop two solar plants in the countryside of the state. This includes a 202 MW plant in Milagres and a 265 MW solar farm in Ico.

Lightsource BP acquires 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain

Lightsource BP has announced the acquisition of a portfolio consisting of 1.06 GW of solar projects in Spain from RIC Energy. Additionally, the sales agreement specifies a partnership with RIC Energy to develop solar projects in 14 sites across Madrid, Andalusia, and Castile and Leon. The first batch of projects is projected to reach ready-to-build status by the end of 2021 and be commissioned between 2022 and 2025.
