ACWA Power to develop 1 GW renewable energy project in Kazakhstan

ACWA Power, based in Saudi Arabia, has agreed to construct a 1 GW wind and battery storage project in Kazakhstan. The company inked a project deal with the Kazakhstan government and the country’s sovereign wealth fund, Samruk-Kazyna. By this agreement, ACWA Power enters Kazakhstan’s renewable energy market. The company has also pledged to make an initial $1.5 billion investment to promote national climate action, the integration of renewable energy sources, and sustainable growth.

Eurasian Resources Group to construct $230 million wind farm 

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a mining firm with headquarters in Luxembourg, has announced plans to invest around $230 million in the construction of a 155 MW wind farm in Kazakhstan. The wind farm, which spans more than 150 hectares of land near the town of Khromtau, will go into operation in 2024. A total of 300 employments will be created by the project during construction, and 30 additional permanent jobs will be added after it is put into operation.

Russia’s Hevel Solar wins highest capacity in Kazakhstan solar auction

The new contracts will help increase Hevel’s solar portfolio in the country to 288 MW, with the two new projects expected to come online in 2022. With a current operational solar portfolio in Kazakhstan of eight facilities that have a total capacity of more than 248 MW, Hevel is looking to expand its presence in the country both by participating in auctions and acquiring projects from other companies.
