Vestas secures 238 MW wind turbine order in Japan

Vestas has received a 238 MW wind turbine supply contract from Hibiki Wind Energy for its Kitakyushu-Hibikinada offshore wind farm project in Japan. The offshore facility, which is right next to Kitakyushu city in Fukuoka Prefecture, will be equipped with 25 Vestas V174-9.5 MW wind turbines, which are the strongest in use in Japan. A long-term active output management 5000 service contract was also signed with Vestas for the wind farm. The order is anticipated to boost the company’s presence in the country’s offshore wind energy sector.

Toyota Tsusho to buy 85 per cent stake in SB Energy 

Toyota Tsusho Corporation has agreed to buy an 85 per cent stake in Japan-based renewable energy developer SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group. The transaction will benefit both the companies with respect to their clean energy businesses. Both companies agreed to work together to develop renewable energy and electric power supply-demand adjustments, among other measures to achieve carbon neutrality in their respective operations.

Amazon procures record 8.3 GW of clean energy in 2022

Siemens Gamesa receives offshore wind turbine order in Japan

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has received an offshore wind power order from Green Power Investment for the Ishikari offshore wind power project in Japan. The 112 MW wind power project is located in Hokkaido, Japan, about 5 km from the shore of Ishikari Bay. As part of the agreement, SGRE will deliver 14 of its SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines, each with a 167m rotor and an 8 MW capacity.

Japan to allocate 268.7 MW in eleventh solar auction

JERA plans to invest $1.4 billion to develop 1 GW solar power
