Hexicon wins grid permits for 7.1 GW of floating wind in Italy

Hexicon AB, a Swedish floating wind specialist, has been granted permission to connect six floating wind facilities in Italy with a total capacity of 7.1 GW to the national grid. Reportedly, the permits were granted by Italian transmission system operator (TSO) Terna SpA. The Swedish developer is active in Italy through AvenHexicon, a 50-50 joint venture with local renewables developer Avapa Energy Srl.

IberBlue Wind to develop 990 MW of floating wind farm in Andalusia

IberBlue Wind, a Spanish-Irish renewable energy company, has announced plans to build a 990 MW floating wind farm off the coast of Andalusia, Spain. The 310 km sq Nao Victoria wind farm will be built in the Alboran Sea, off the coasts of Cadiz and Malaga. The Nao Victoria wind farm, which will comprise 55 floating offshore wind turbines, will have an installed capacity of 990 MW and be able to power hundreds of thousands of households.

Hexicon forms JV for floating wind power projects in Greece

The Yeonggwang Project, a 1.2 GW floating wind project off the south-west coast of South Korea, has been the subject of a sale and purchase agreement signed by offshore wind developer Hexicon Korea. According to the agreement, Hexicon Korea will sell its 40 per cent stake in the project to an undisclosed buyer, who will then become the project’s 100 per cent owner and take over its financial management moving forward.

Lamprell, NOV partner to develop floating wind projects in UK

Lamprell, an Emirati construction company, has signed a MoU with NOV, a US-based firm, to supply three offshore floating wind farms to Cerulean Winds, a British renewable energy developer. According to the provisions of the MoU, Lamprell will provide fabrication, assembly, and outfitting services for the construction of NOV’s tri-floaters, which will act as the floating foundations for the three wind farms. South Korea has announced that it plans to build a 6 GW offshore wind park on floating foundations. The project will be located off the coast of Ulsan City at a proposed investment of KRW 36 trillion ($32.1 billion).
