In 2020, electric vehicle uptake across the United States was approximately 2.4%, an increase from 2% in 2019. The 50 most populous metropolitan areas accounted for about 77% of new 2020 electric vehicle registrations, approximately 61% of the total light-duty vehicle market, and 55% of the U.S. population.
