Siemens Gamesa to supply turbines for a 100 MW wind farm in Ethiopia

Siemens Gamesa has signed an agreement to supply 29 turbines of the SG 3.4-132 variety to the state-owned utility Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) for the 100 MW Assela project in Ethiopia. The project is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2023. The project will generate about 300,000 MWh per year.

Seven companies in the running for drilling on the Corbetti geothermal site in Ethiopia

Corbetti Geothermal PLC has announced the results of the first round of the call for tenders for the drilling of boreholes for its geothermal project in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The project is being developed by a consortium formed by Berkeley Energy (BE), manager of the African Renewable Energy Fund (AREF), Reykjavik Geothermal (RG) and InfraCo Africa, a company of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG).

UNHCR calls for tenders for 10 solar hybrid systems in three African countries

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Green Fund has launched a call for tenders for the installation of 10 solar photovoltaic systems for its operations in three East African countries, namely Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. This project will result in solar power plants with capacities ranging from 60 kWp to 500 kWp, with a cumulative capacity of 1.8 MWp at all 10 sites.
