Atlas secures 417 MW PPA from Enel in Chile

Enel Generación Chile has signed a power purchase agreement with Atlas Renewable Energy to develop the latter’s first wind energy project. The three wind farms, which have a total capacity of 417 MW, can create 1.3 TWh of renewable energy annually and contribute to the country’s goal of accelerating its clean energy transition.

Enel purchases 3.2 GW solar portfolio in the United States

Dakota Renewable Energy, a joint venture between Dakota Power Partners and Eolian, has sold a 3.2 GW portfolio of solar and solar-plus-storage projects to Enel Green Power North America. The 24 development-stage projects, totaling 450 MW of storage capacity, are scheduled to commence commercial operation in 2023.

Enel Green Power announces commercial operation for 716 MW wind farm in Brazil

Enel Green Power has announced the launch of commercial operations of its 716 MW Lagoa dos Ventos wind farm in Brazil. The project was developed at an estimated investment of BRL 3 billion ($592 million) by the company’s subsidiary, Enel Green Power Brasil Participacoes Ltd. The plant is located in Brazil’s north-eastern state of Piaui and is equipped with 230 turbines which are expected to generate more than 3.3 TWh of electricity annually.

Endesa acquires 519 MW of solar projects in Spain

Endesa has announced the acquisition of a 519MW of solar projects from Arena Power in Spain. The deal was executed through its renewable energy wing, Enel Green Power España. The portfolio consists of 11 projects which represent an investment of about $415 million including the price of the acquisition, construction, and start-up. Construction for these projects is set to commence next year with commissioning scheduled for 2024.

Enel develops wind plus storage project to supply Kellogg

Enel Green Power North America, Enel’s U.S. renewable subsidiary has begun developing a wind plus storage hybrid project, called Azure Sky. Enel has also signed a 100 MW virtual power purchase agreement to sell power generated by this project to Kellogg Company. This will translate to 360 GWh of the electricity delivered to the grid annually from the Azure Sky wind project. The electricity supplied will is equal to 50 per cent of the volume of electricity used across Kellogg’s North American manufacturing facilities.

Enel and QIA form a joint venture to develop renewable energy projects in south-Saharan Africa

Enel Green Power, a subsidiary of the Italian energy giant, Enel, has announced that it has signed a joint venture partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority to develop and exploit renewable energy resources in countries south of Saharan-Africa. Under the agreement, QIA will acquire a 50 per cent stake in four projects which are under construction and being developed by Enel Green Power in South Africa. Further, they will also acquire two operating plants in South Africa and in Zambia which will take the total acquired capacity to 800 MW.
