EDPR acquires 70 per cent stake in Kronos Solar Projects

EDP Renováveis (EDPR), a Portuguese company specialising in renewable energy, invested $256 million to acquire a 70 per cent stake in Kronos Solar Projects, a company based in Germany. Currently, Kronos’ portfolio of solar projects totals 9.4 GW, and they are spread out across the UK, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. The solar portfolio includes projects in Germany that make up about 50 per cent of the total and are in various phases of development.

BOEM to lease site for offshore wind development for $4.37 billion

Under the New York Bight auction, the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has leased a 480,000-acre renewable development site offshore of New York and New Jersey. RWE Renewables, Ocean Winds, Invenergy, and Atlantic Shores were declared provisional auction winners by BOEM. Companies in the auction process submitted winning bids totaling $4.37 billion.

EDP Renewables acquires 628 MW of renewable energy assets in Chile

EDP Renewables has announced the acquisition of 628 MW of wind and solar assets under two separate deals with Atacama Energy and Lader Energy in Chile. The acquired capacity comprises a 77 MW wind farm which has a 20-year power purchase agreement and set for operation in 2023 and 551 MW of solar and wind farms, which are currently under development.

EDP plans Euro 24 billion investment to double its wind and solar portfolio by 2025

EDP renewables have announced that it will invest Euro 24 billion towards doubling its solar and wind capacity from 12 GW to 25 GW by 2025. With this goal, the company also aims to be coal-free by 2025 and completely source power from green energy in 2030 by expanding its renewable energy portfolio to 50 GW. The company also intends to increase its solar generation capacity ten-fold.

Post-acquisition, the new company will be known as EDPR NA Distributed Generation LLC (EDPR NA DG). The company is set to acquire an 85 per cent equity stake in C2s solar portfolio.
