Renewable energy as a catalyst for investment and growth in Vietnam

Several high-profile investors have entered Vietnam’s C&I market. The French utility group EDF and its local partner, investment fund VinaCapital, have committed USD100 million over the next three years for a pipeline of 200 MWp of C&I rooftop solar power systems. South Korean conglomerate SK Group has pledged USD200 million and a 250 MWp installation target in the next few years, with local partner Nami Energy.

TEESS secures $80 Million for a 170 MW Solar Portfolio in China

TEESS, a joint venture company established by TotalEnergies and Envision Group, has secured the first part of a total $80 million non-recourse debt for a 170 MW solar portfolio in China. This is the first international non-recourse financing undertaken in China’s renewable sector. The lenders of the project include BNP Paribas, Natixis, Société Générale and Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank.

Kenya floats tender to develop upto 10 MW of captive solar projects

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company have issued an expression of interest from companies to finance, develop, and operate captive solar projects. These solar projects can range between 500kW and 10MW on a lease basis for its commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers. Shortlisted bidders will be issued a detailed Request of Proposal by Kenya Power, which would be selected on the basis of their technical and financial capabilities.Selected bidders also have to operate the project for 20 years.
