In collaboration with the wind energy company Encro, Taaleri Energia acquired the Zadar wind farm in Croatia through its Taaleri SolarWind II fund. The 25 Nordex wind turbine 111 MW wind farm, which is situated in the county of Zadar, will provide the Croatian grid with about 317 GWh of clean energy annually. Around 85,000 houses may be powered by the Zadar wind farm, which can also reduce carbon emissions by about 78,000 tonnes annually.
The Zadar wind farm project is scheduled to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2023, having started construction there in the second quarter of 2021. Encro, the project’s original developer, will provide construction management, as well as technical and commercial management services. Under the terms of a 30-year agreement, Nordex will service and maintain the wind turbines. Once operational, a long-term power purchase agreement will be used to sell a significant proportion of the clean energy produced by the Zadar wind farm.
In July 2022, ACCIONA Energía, a subsidiary of Acciona, a Spanish renewable energy company, announced its plans to build two wind farms in Croatia. The two wind farms are the 45 MW-capable Boraja II and the 27 MW Opor wind project. Their construction is tied to a 12-year Contract for Difference (CfD) signed with Croatian energy and gas regulator HROTE. The CfD was selected through a competitive bidding process and is a component of a scheme by the Croatian government and HROTE to increase the generation of renewable electricity.
