Sonnedix, a global independent power producer, has purchased a 300 MW solar PV portfolio from developer RIC Energy, with construction set to begin around the end of 2022. The portfolio is based in the east-central Spanish city of Cuenca and it is divided into two 150 MW projects with secured land and grid access.
The team is also collaborating with municipalities to ensure that the ecological and economic benefits to the host communities are maximised. Sonnedix was advised on this deal by Oca Global (technical advisor) and Ashurst (legal advisor). Simmons & Simmons advised RIC Energy.
Sonnedix has a portfolio of 140 solar PV facilities in Spain, with more than 350MW in operation and a 350MW development pipeline. This it raises Sonnidex’s total regulated capacity in Spain to over 700MW.
It presently has almost 2GW in operation or construction across eight countries, with another 2GW in the process. Sonnedix continues to grow its worldwide presence throughout OECD nations, with more than 350 solar plants in service and hundreds of MW under construction in Italy, France, Spain, the United States/Puerto Rico, Chile, South Africa, and Japan. RIC Energy is a prominent renewable energy developer in Spain, focusing on the delivery of renewable energy and energy storage facilities.
