Siemens Gamesa, a Spanish wind turbine manufacturer, has received an order from Vena Energy, a Singapore-based company, to deliver wind turbines for a 133 MW wind project in Karnataka, India. As per the agreement, Siemens Gamesa will supply 37 of its 3.X platform turbines, known as SG 3.6-145, for the project. The turbines would be manufactured at Siemens Gamesa’s facilities in India, and installation work at the site is slated to begin in 2023.
Siemens Gamesa and Vena Energy began their partnership in 2015 with a 154 MW wind farm located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Since then, Vena Energy has added more than 300 MW of capacity in India, with wind farms in areas such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. With this agreement, Siemens Gamesa’s portfolio in India has grown to nearly 600 MW.
In May 2022, Siemens Gamesa announced that it would supply the Serbian state utility EPS with a 66 MW wind power project. Siemens Gamesa said it would supply 20 SG 3.3-132 turbines to the Kostolac wind project in Serbia, which would be the company’s first in the country. They will be fully installed in 2024. These turbines have a rated power of up to 3.65 MW.
