Siemens Gamesa has won an order to supply 18 units of its SG 5.0-145 turbines for the construction of the 78 MW Hiep Thanh wind farm which is located off the coast of Tra Vinh Province in Vietnam. The company has also signed a 10-year contract to provide operations and maintenance services. The wind project is being developed by EcoTech Tra Vinh Renewables JSC. The investors are Janakuasa Pte Ltd, Ecotech Vietnam, Climate Investor One, and ST International. For this project, Siemens Gamesa formed a consortium with PowerChina Huadong Engineering Co. Ltd., a leading engineering and construction company operating in China’s offshore wind power industry, to deliver an engineering, procurement and construction offering to the developer. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2021.

In Vietnam, Siemens Gamesa has built three wind farms, and seven more wind farms are currently under construction. In the last three years, the company has sold approximately 550 MW of wind turbines in the Vietnamese market. Siemens Gamesa has installed more than 8.4 GW of onshore turbines in China, Pakistan, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. In 2019, the company completed the installation of Taiwan’s first 128 MW offshore wind power project.
