RWE, a German energy utility company, has expanded its presence in Spain by opening a solar farm named Casa Valdes near Madrid. The 44 MW solar farm, which is situated in the province of Guadalajara, has 97,740 bifacial solar modules and occupies 97ha of space. It will produce enough renewable energy each year to power 30,000 homes. As per the company’s statement  its other solar projects in Spain, such as the Puerta del Sol and Las Vaguadas facilities are also using its bifacial solar modules. In a round of bids for capacity in Spain’s power transmission infrastructure, Concurso de Capacidad, the company is now preparing to submit its ongoing wind and solar project entries.

In December 2022, RWE Renewables started work on its first green hydrogen project in Chile, with plans to add approximately 835 MW of electrolysis capacity. The project, known as Vientos Magallanicos or the Winds of Magallanes, would also include 1 GW of wind farms to supply electricity for the electrolysis process. According to the company’s statement, RWE intends to use the plant to generate about 475,000 tonnes of ammonia yearly for export to international markets.
