RWE, a German energy company, has acquired Alpha Solar, a Polish PV development company with a 3 GW utility-scale solar project pipeline. Alpha Solar, a Warsaw-based company works on every step of the solar development process, from land acquisition to preparing it for construction. The company has three local offices in Inowrocaw, ód, and Rzeszów.
In Poland, the majority of its projects are currently in various stages of development. RWE stated that the agreement will enhance its Polish renewables sector and add to its current 10 GW solar development pipeline. Around 60 employees of Alpha Solar will join RWE as a result of the agreement. No financial details have been disclosed.
Earlier this month, RWE started construction on a 10 MW ground-mounted solar power project, in the region of Badajoz in Spain. For the solar project in Las Vaguadas, the company has already started construction. Over the next few weeks, it plans to begin installing about 20,000 bifacial solar panels at the 21 ha site.
REGlobal’s Views: As Europe witnesses an energy crisis with gas supply shortages and rising prices, energy companies like RWE are ramping up their expansion plans to have a larger share in the growing renewable energy market of Europe. Acquisitions and mergers are expected to increase as countries lower their reliance on fossil fuels and increase clean power procurement, and larger energy players want to quickly gain market shares.
