Renewable Energy Systems (RES), UK-based renewable energy firm has agreed to sell its Lycksele project portfolio in Sweden to German investment firm Prime Capital. The 290MW portfolio comprises the Fjällberg, Hornmyran and Vinliden wind energy projects. These projects will be sold for an unknown amount and are anticipated to go operational in 2025.

In Västerbotten County, RES began building the Lycksele portfolio in 2007. Between the three projects, 45 wind turbines will be present. The portfolio is anticipated to provide the region and the wider European market with about 1TWh of clean energy annually. By way of the development services contract, RES will assist Prime Capital  make the portfolio ready for construction by 2023. Once operational, RES will also provide asset management services for the portfolio.

Earlier this month, RES secured an approval to build its Spennymoor Energy Storage System in County Durham, UK. The 99.9 MW facility will store electricity when generation exceeds demand, as well as release power to the grid network when demand exceeds generation.
