Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Germany has received approval from the municipal council of Öhningen for a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) park. The company’s application to construct the solar PV facility on Lake Constance in the Schienen area was accepted. RES Deutschland obtained approval for one of four open sites it had applied for, on the border with Switzerland. The company will construct the solar project on an area of around eight hectares after receiving the required permits.

RES will lease the required land for the project, on which the new solar facility will be built. In the following phase, the municipality of Hningen will begin the development plan application process. When completed, the solar project will be able to meet two-thirds of Öhningen’s total energy demand.

In October 2022, RES signed a letter of intent for the use of Modvion’s wooden wind turbine towers in its future wind energy projects. According to the deal, Modvion might provide RES with about 20 wooden towers per year between 2026 and 2036. This would represent $353 million in future orders for Modvion. Through their partnership, Modvion would be able to introduce RES Nordic’s wind turbine suppliers to their modular, wood-based tower technology.
