Powin, a US-based energy company, has agreed to deliver 5.8 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) over the next two years under framework agreements with four firms. The firm will provide BESS solutions to a number of projects in the US and Taiwan. Powin will provide fully integrated BESS solutions that include inverters, cells, battery management, cables and transformers, as well as software and control systems, among other components, under the terms of the deal.
Commissioning the storage systems and delivering long-term services such as on-site operations and maintenance (O&M) and battery augmentation will be the company’s responsibility. It has also agreed to provide extended warranties for all projects covered by these agreements for a period of 20 years.
According to the company’s statement, the majority of these deals will rely on its Centipede battery storage infrastructure, which can accommodate more than 200 MWhac per acre. The Centipede platform was first revealed in November 2021, and deliveries are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2022.
Powin, based in Oregon, specialises on constructing scalable BESSs, with over 2,000 MWh of battery capacity deployed throughout 12 US states and eight countries to date. Over the next three years, the company has a contract to provide more than 5,000 MWh of energy storage systems throughout the world.
