Plenitude, an Eni subsidiary with operations in Italy, has opened the El Monte wind farm in Spain. The 104.5MW wind farm, which is situated in Castilla La Mancha, has 19 GE wind turbines. The plant has the capacity to generate 300 GWh of renewable energy annually, which is sufficient to power 100,000 homes in the area. The El Monte project was developed in cooperation with Plenitude’s strategic partner in Spain, Azora Capital. Earlier, Azora Capital collaborated with the Eni subsidiary to create solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind projects across the country.

The El Monte project has increased Plenitude’s capacity to generate renewable energy in Spain in addition to supporting the establishment of direct and indirect local employment opportunities. Plenitude also operates in the Spanish energy and gas sales market for residential consumers as well as small, medium-sized, and large businesses.

In September 2022, Plenitude partnered with independent power producer Infrastrutture to build solar and wind facilities in Spain and Italy. Plenitude acquired a 65 per cent stake in Infrastrutture’s subsidiary Hergo Renewables, which currently has a 1.5 GW project portfolio in the two countries.
