Spanish solar tracker and mounting systems manufacturer PV Hardware (PVH) announced the launch of its manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. The factory will be owned and operated by the company’s Saudi unit, PV Hardware Middle East. It will produce PV trackers, mounting structures, and robotic cleaning devices. The products will be marked as ‘Made in KSA’ in line with the rules for domestic content recently outlined by the country’s government.
The new provisions will come into effect as of January 1, 2024, and see state contracts to foreign companies based outside the Kingdom halted. PVH reported that its manufacturing center recently obtained the service and manufacturing license from the Saudi government. Under this license, PV Hardware Middle East will manufacture its technology in the country. In addition, the company will develop and train local manufacturers, equipping them with the knowledge to produce subassembly parts of this technology themselves.
In May 2019, PVH signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi company Al Yamamah Solar Systems Factory, one of the leading steel manufacturers in the Middle East, announcing its entry into the Saudi Arabian market. PVH is a provider of innovative solar tracking solutions and SCADA systems for the global utility-scale solar market. Each solar tracker product by PVH covers different needs, depending on the characteristics of the project. Founded in 2011, PVH has supplied more than 10 GW to photovoltaic plants operating in many countries around the world.
