NovaWind, the wind power division of Russian energy company Rosatom, has inked a cooperation agreement with An Xuan Energy to develop a 128 MW wind farm in Vietnam. The northwestern province of the country, Son La, will be the location of the envisioned wind farm. An Xuan Energy, a development and investment company established in 2017, focuses on producing hydroelectric, solar, wind, and biomass power projects. The company is presently constructing a renewable energy pipeline in Vietnam with 140 MW of solar and 430 MW of wind energy capacity.

In June 2022, Corio Generation signed a joint development agreement with FECON, a Vietnamese construction firm, for a 500 MW offshore wind project in Vietnam’s Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The proposed fixed-bottom plant, which would be located between 23-35 km off the coast, is expected to be one of the country’s first large-scale offshore wind projects. According to Green Investment Group analysis, once completed, it will have the capacity to generate 1.25 GWh of clean energy and offset more than 600,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
