For its offshore wind farm in Taiwan, Canadian energy company Northland Power has entered into a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with an investment-grade counterparty. In accordance with the 20-year CPPA, the buyer will receive all of the clean energy produced by the Hai Long 2B and 3 projects. The two projects will start operating in late 2026 and have a combined capacity of 744 MW.

In accordance with the provisions of the agreement, Hai Long 2B and 3 will receive a set price for supplying power and Taiwan Renewable Energy Certificates (T-RECs) throughout the duration of the contract. In an auction, Northland Power won the Hai Long offshore wind project. In addition to Hai Long 2B and 3, the Hai Long project includes the 300MW Hai Long 2A, which obtained a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Taipower in 2019 under a Feed-in-Tariff allocation.

In April 2022, Vestas was awarded a 295 MW order for the Zhong Neng offshore wind project in Changhua County, Taiwan. China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners are working together on the project (CIP). It would have 31 Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines with the capacity to power 300,000 Taiwanese households each year.
