Nordex, a German turbine manufacturer, has won an order for fourteen N149/4.X turbines from Eksim Holding of Istanbul, Turkey, for the latter’s first wind project in Ukraine. A premium service contract for a duration of 15 years is also included in the order. The Skole wind farm will be erected near the city of Skole in West Ukraine, with a total capacity of 67.2 MW. The turbines are expected to be installed in March 2022. The fourteen turbines will then transmit clean electricity into the Ukrainian grid at full capacity beginning in the third quarter of 2022. According to the corporation, the Nordex Group will deliver the turbines in the cold-climate form to assure a high level of availability during the winter season as well.
Eksim has been in the wind energy business since 2011, and it presently owns and operates eight wind farms in Turkey with a total capacity of 451 MW, all of which are powered by Nordex turbines. Eksim has a project portfolio of about 626 MW capacity in the hydroelectric energy industry, which is another type of renewable energy. The 63 MW Uzundere – I HPP, which was built on the ncesu creek, was the first HPP developed by Eksim and was commissioned in May 2010. Eksim and Nordex expanded their commercial partnership to Ukraine with the Skole Project. Eksim’s first wind park investment outside of Turkey will be at Skole.
The Nordex Group has deployed over 35 GW of wind energy capacity in over 40 markets, generating EUR 4.6 billion in revenue in 2020. Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States, India, and Mexico are among the countries with joint production capability. Onshore turbines in the 4 to 6.X MW range are the emphasis of the product line, which are tailored to the market needs of countries with limited area and regions with low grid capacity.
