By 2026, Lightsource bp, a joint venture between Lightsource and bp, intends to develop 1 GW of solar power capacity in France.  To achieve this target, the company plans to build many large-scale ground-mount solar farms. Under the agreement, Lightsource bp plans to engage in public tenders and provide companies with sustainable energy through power purchase agreements.

Lightsource bp is also constructing a base of operations in Aix-en-Provence, France, with Raphael Colas as the unit’s head.  The company plans to offer services for the whole lifecycle of solar energy projects from its new headquarters, including site selection, financing, permitting, long-term management of production sites, and electricity sale.

In February 2022, Lightsource bp signed an agreement to develop 400 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Italy with two Italian firms. In Veneto, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Lombardy, the company signed the first agreement with Solar IT to develop 200 MWp of PV capacity. The second deal is for the joint development of a 200 MW PV project pipeline in north-central Italy and on the country’s two major islands, Sicily and Sardinia, with TEP Renewables’ Italian arm.
