Lightsource bp, a solar project developer, has completed financing for its 210 MW Milagres Solar project in Brazil for $148.7 million. The Northeast Development Fund (Fundo de Desenvolvimento do Nordeste, or FDNE), which is run by the Brazilian government agency Superintendência de Desenvolvimento do Nordeste (Sudene), received debt funding of $78.6 million from Banco do Brasil.

The five solar sites that make up the park are being built in the Ceará state’s Abaiara, and construction on the transmission system for the complex started in December 2021. The solar plant is scheduled to go operational in early 2024. The project’s engineering, construction and procurement contractor is Motrice, a Brazilian company specialising in solutions for the construction of renewable energy generation, transmission, and distribution systems.

In May 2022, Lightsource BP partnered with Green Rock Energy on the development of a 150 MW solar-aquaculture project in Taiwan. The Budai project would be one of the largest fishery solar farms in Taiwan, creating 750 employment opportunities during construction, which is expected to commence in June 2023. The project would produce 210,000 MWh of electricity per year, enough to power around 43,000 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 133,770 tonnes per year once completed.
