Legendre Energie has signed a 25-year concession contract with the Malian Ministry of Economy and Finance and Energy for the Fana solar power project. The solar project will be built under the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) model, which is a public-private partnership (PPP). The plant would have a capacity of 50 MWp and will be located near Bamako capital, Diola Circle.
Legendre anticipates that the facility will be operational in 2023. The plant’s power will be supplied into the state-owned Électricité du Mali (EDM) grid via the EDM substation at Fana (150 kV). The total cost of the project is anticipated to be Euro 50 million.
The plant will be built on a 150-hectare land. The facility will have a capacity of 50 MWp, making it the largest solar plant in Mali, alongside a 50 MWp plant developed by the French IPP Akuo Energy near Kita.
According to the EU-US Data Protection Shield, Mali has an installed capacity of only 310 MW for a population of more than 20 million people. The country imports 50 MW of power from Ivory Coast and has 90 MWp of installed off-grid capacity.
Legendre Energie, a part of the Legendre Group, was founded in 2007 and is active in France and worldwide in three areas: renewable energy production, operation and maintenance, and solar asset management. Legendre Energie’s revenue in 2020 is expected to be 15 million euros.
