Sambhar Salts, a subsidiary of Hindustan Salts Limited (HSL), has issued a tender to create an ultra-mega solar project with a capacity of up to 4 GW in Sambhar, Rajasthan. The company has also expressed interest in developing a solar plant with a capacity of up to 1 GW at Kharaghoda, Gujarat.
As per the tender guidelines, to be eligible for the bidding process, all permissions, licences, approvals, no objection certificates, and clearances from all authorities will be the responsibility of the winning bidder. They must also obtain the necessary equipment to construct the projects, as well as to evacuate and transmit power. The bidder must build the project on Hindustan Salts’ land, run it, and earn revenue from the sale of generated power. The developer will be solely responsible for selling power through power purchase agreements. The winning bidders should provide full operations and maintenance (O&M) for the projects for a period of 25 years after they are commissioned. The bid submission deadline is December 13, 2021.
In June 2017, HSL invited bids for a 100 MW solar project at Kharaghoda district in Gujarat. It had to be developed by HSL along with the winning EPC contractor based on the revenue sharing model. The winning bidder was responsible for both EPC and O&M services for a period of 25 years. The expenditure for development, installation, and O&M, and seeking various clearances was to be borne by the successful bidder while land for the project was provided by HSL.
