IBC SOLAR Energy, a German solar energy company, has sold two solar photovoltaic (PV) parks in Poland to Afcon Renewable Energy, an Israeli energy company, for an undisclosed sum. The two solar plants, which are in Poland’s western region, have a combined 120 MW capacity and are currently in advanced initiation stages. Afcon Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Afcon Holdings, will complete the project development up to the ready-to-build stage with the help of local entrepreneurs. IBC SOLAR Energy is the international project division of the German company IBC SOLAR.
Reportedly, the agreement with Afcon intends to improve the company’s commercial operations in Poland. It follows the establishment of a local subsidiary by IBC SOLAR Energy, which has allowed the company to increase its capacity locally. By 2030, the country aims to source more than 30 per cent of its energy from renewable sources.
In August 2022, EDF Renewables inked an agreement with Budimex to make an investment in offshore wind farm development in Poland. On a 50-50 basis, the two companies would focus on the country’s second phase of offshore development. In the second phase, EDF Renewables and Budimex ihave dentified 11 new sites for offshore wind farm development in the Polish Baltic Sea region. The 11 identified sites are estimated to total 11 GW of capacity.
