The German Federal Network Agency, Bundesnetzagentur, has issued a request for proposals for solar projects totaling 1.1 GW, onshore wind projects totaling 1.32 GW, and biomass projects totaling 274.86 MW. The solar tender’s ceiling tariff is $0.062 per kWh. In comparison to the previous three average bid prices, the ceiling tariff has increased by 8 per cent. In 2022, the agency expects to issue three tenders for 3.6 GW of solar power.

Baden-Württemberg is anticipated to receive 100 MW of solar capacity, followed by Hesse with 35 MW, Lower Saxony with 150 MW, Rhineland-Palatinate with 200 MW, Saarland with 229.57 MW, and Saxony with 180 MW. The onshore wind tender’s ceiling tariff is $0.065 per kWh. In 2022, the agency plans to tender approximately 4 GW of generating capacity. The bid submission deadline for solar and biomass projects is March 1, 2022. The bid submission deadline for the wind tender is February 1, 2022.

In September 2021, Orsted and Uniper signed a MoU to jointly develop large-scale offshore wind with hydrogen. This would be accomplished in part by direct integration of hydrogen generation from offshore wind power at the German port of Wilhelmshaven. An electrolysis plant with a capacity of 70MW is anticipated to be installed in 2025, with the capacity being increased to 410 MW by 2030.
