Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a mining firm with headquarters in Luxembourg, has announced plans to invest around $230 million in the construction of a 155 MW wind farm in Kazakhstan. The wind farm, which spans more than 150 hectares of land near the town of Khromtau, will go into operation in 2024. A total of 300 employments will be created by the project during construction, and 30 additional permanent jobs will be added after it is put into operation.

The Kazchrome Donskoy GOK facility of ERG, which is situated in the Aktobe region, would receive the clean energy generated by the plant. In addition, the renewable power will be supplied to other surrounding industrial factories, as well as to the Aktobe region more broadly. The wind farm will help ERG achieve its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets by displacing about 520,000 tpa of carbon emissions and reducing the region’s dependence on coal.

ERG intends to lower its emissions to air by 56 per cent and its emissions to water by 30 per cent by 2030, while also using 33 per cent less water in its operations. The company was established in 2013 and has operations in mining, processing, energy production, logistics, and marketing.
