CSI Energy Storage, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has won a contract to supply up to 550 MWh of battery storage capacity to Pulse Clean Energy in the UK. The 550 MWh of capacity has CSI Energy Storage’s proprietary SolBank system and will be installed at several of Pulse’s locations. In the UK, Pulse has established a pipeline of grid-scale battery storage and energy optimisation projects with a combined capacity of more than 2 GWh.

In addition, CSI Energy Storage will provide commissioning services, long-term warranties, and performance guarantees for the products.  The contract strengthens the partnership between Pulse and CSI Energy Storage, which was established last year when CSI Energy Storage agreed to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for four Pulse projects.

In December 2022, CSI Solar won a 256 MW solar module supply contract from Sola Group, a South African independent power producer. Two utility-scale solar power projects based on private power purchase agreements would get the solar modules in South Africa. CSI Solar would provide 390,073 BiHiKu7 modules for the two projects. The two solar plants, which are located in South Africa’s North West Province, have capacities of 126 MWp and 130 MWp, respectively.

REGlobal’s Views: CSI Energy Storage has built an extensive portfolio not just in North America but also in the UK and China. With 2.4 GWh of storage solutions deployed already, the company has a large pipeline as well, indicating the strong continued demand for storage solutions worldwide.
